Chicago OOTW: day 1
This summer I went to the great city of Chicago for a week! While I was there, I mainly went to museums and just explored around the city, so I made sure I wore clothes that were easy to move around in and shoes that were comfortable (VERY important if you are traveling to a city because you will be walking a lot). If you follow me on Instagram, you probably have already seen some of the outfits I wore while I was there. The weather was great while I was down there, so on the days that I knew I was going to be outside for a while I opted to wear shorts. But for the days that I knew I was going to be in a museum, I either wore something with pants or layered because museums can get chilly sometimes!
For this blog post I'm going to talk about what I wore as well as what I did on my first day there.
Before we could do anything, we had to take a train to the city. My family and I did not actually stay in the city, we stayed in a quaint little town called Lake Forest. The hotels are a lot cheaper there than what they were in the city and the train ride was not bad at all. It was very clean and I never felt like it was too crowded when I rode it. The train ride was about an hour though, so do keep that in mind for your schedule if you use them. All in all, I had no problems with the trains and would definitely use them again to get in and out of the city. Just a quick side note, the train stop in Lake Forest was a great place to get a few pictures! It was a very cutesy and picturesque location to get some awesome pictures!

So on this day, my family and I wanted to get more comfortable with the city so we mainly just walked around. This means that we were going to be outside for most if not all of the day, so I decided to wear denim shorts with a bodysuit tank and white converse.
When you see the most ornate Target you've ever seen, you absolutely need to stop and take a picture, right?! But going back to the clothes, how awesome are these Free People shorts? I love them so much that I got them in white and a darker denim wash too. If you look closely, on the front of the shorts there is a little lace detail near the pockets, which I absolutely love! They are a little bit on the short side, but I never worry about my butt cheeks showing because the distressed fringe covers it up pretty well. These shorts are a little bit high waisted, at least on me since I'm short waisted, but they are not too high either. They are just perfect!
While we were walking around we decided to stop by Millennium Park and see the Cloud Gate sculpture, or as most people call it, the bean. Quick tip: get there early in the morning! We went around 9 in the morning, and while there was still a good amount of people there, it wasn't so crowded that you couldn't get a good look or picture with the sculpture. If you ever do go to Chicago, definitely stop by the bean and get a really good look at it. Since it's made of stainless steel, you can see the entire city scape and it is absolutely breathtaking. Its also really fun to take cool selfies and other pictures with the sculpture. I was actually taking picture ideas from the people around me!
This American Eagle lace-up bodysuit was so awesome to wear on this hot day! Not only does it look super cute with my denim shorts, but it was also comfy and cool to wear while walking around all day. Another plus is that the material is thick enough that small chested girls, like myself, can get away without wearing a bra and not feel nervous about it! I paired my bodysuit and denim shorts with a black Lucky Brand belt. I actually went to the mall before I left for Chicago in search for some belts and could not find them in any store! Luckily, I thought to try and see if Lucky Brand had any and as soon as I walked in I smelled the leather and knew there would be some in there. To make it even better belts were on sale! For the rest of my outfit I'm wearing some white converse, some Alex and Ani bangles, and carrying my white Prada bag. Fun fact: My dad has now named my purse Eloise, which I think fits her perfectly!

Kylie Jenner recently partnered up with Quay Australia and dropped a few new sunnies, and I fell in love with the pair I'm wearing in these pictures. This pair is called Purple Honey and it comes in three different colors. I'm wearing the gold/green version but they also have gold/purple and gold/gold. Kylie's collection also has 3 other styles (1, 2, 3) besides Purple Honey and they are all beautiful!
My family and I obviously didn't want to be walking the entire time, so we decided to get on a tour bus. We used the Big Red Bus and I really liked it because you just bought a voucher and could get on and off at any stop with no problems. So we ended up stopping near the Adler Planetarium. It was right by the lake with a gorgeous view of the skyline, so of course I had to get a ton of pictures there!
Fun fact about the Adler Planetarium: it has all the zodiac signs around the building! So here a fun picture of me being to excited because I found my sign, pisces!

Lastly, we hoped back on the Big Red Bus and rode it all the way to Navy Pier where they were actually having a Rolling Stones exhibit going on. They had a bunch of their iconic mouth symbols in various patterns all around the pier.

That's all for day one! Stay tuned for day 2!
